Measurements:
  • Card Base - Basic White Thick: 4 ½" x 6"  (9x6 scored at 4½)
  • 1st Layer - Basic White Regular 4¼ x 5¾" (use to emboss with embossing folder)
  • Inside Layer - Basic White Regular 4¼ x 5¾"  (use for inside sentiment writing or stamping)
  • Scraps - Basic White Regular (use to die cut the 3 squares)
  • Scraps - Distressed Gold Specialty Paper (for the leaves)
  • Scraps - All About Autumn DSP (for the leaves)
Directions:

1.  Score and Fold the Basic White Thick (9" x 6") in half to make the 4½" x 6" card base.

2.  Emboss the Basic White 4¼" x 5¾" layer with the Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder and adhere to the front of the card base.

3.  Die cut Basic White scraps with the squares from the Stylish Shapes Dies. (counting from the smallest to largest, use #3 and #4).  Center the die #3 inside die #4 and then die cut.  Save all pieces!

4.  Using the center pieces, these will be colored using the blending brushes and ink pads.  Blend the colors to your desired look.

5.  Take a little bit of water either from a water painter or just in a bowl and flick some water on the 3 squares.  Do not soak the paper!  Remember this is not watercolor paper, so you only need a little bit just to give it a splattered look. Set to the side to dry completely.

6.  Using the Autumn Leaves dies, die cut 2 of the small maple leaves with your choice of DSP from the All About Autumn DSP.

7.  Using small scraps from the Distressed Gold Specialty paper die cut 2 sprigs.

8.  When the colored squares are dry, stamp one of them with Memento which will be the center square with the "Hello, Friend" stamp or sentiment of your choice that will fit.

9.  Here comes the tricky part when centering the 3 squares to the front of the card.  Adhere with glue the outer square starting at the top.  DO NOT glue all the way around the square.  You will notice on my card the bottom right corner will need to be lifted a little bit that will overlap the center square.  Before moving on to square 2 (middle square), adhere with glue the top center colored blending piece. Follow my card above to adhere the rest of the squares. Pay attention to the overlapping and where you are adding the glue.

10.  Once all the squares are adhered to the front of the card, it is time now for more splattering but this time with ink pad color.  Use Old Olive ink pad and put some on a clear block.  Using a water painter or paint brush, add a little water to the clear block to mix with the ink.  Using the paint brush, put some color on the brush and flick over your card.  Do this a couple of times to get the desired look.

11.  Glue the die cut gold sprigs to the back of the maple leaves. Add dimensionals to the leaves and adhere to the top and bottom squares.

12.  Inside Layer of card: I used the blending brush with Old Olive ink and lightly gave it some color.  I used the large Maple Leaf from the stamp set and stamped in Pecan Pie on some extra colored blending from the 3 squares above. Die cut the leaf and adhere to the inside bottom corner of the card.

If you decide to make this card, please comment below.   If you don't have this stamp set, try using what you have.  Honestly, it's an easy card to make except for getting the overlapping of the squares right.  Give it a try!!  😉
